Four Years on the Road

I got on the road full time. And 4 years later…

Four years on the road

I got on the road full time.

And 4 years later…

The same introduction, a thousand different ways.

I have a rocks from the beaches I no longer remember.

A favorite…

  • Barber in Summerside, PEI
  • Mechanic in Salt Lake City, UT
  • Sunset in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
  • Fjord in Newfoundland, CAN
  • Bookshop in Portland Maine
  • Coffee shop in Seward, AK
  • Laundrymat in Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • Gas station in Austin, TX
  • Farmers market in Boulder, CO
  • Windshield repair shop — Hinton, AB, CAN
  • Grocery store with goats on the roof — Vancouver Island, BC, CAN

Learned to

  • Skip the introductions and start in the middle with strangers
  • Be by myself and the difference of being alone
  • Figure out the height of trees from satellite shadows
  • Appreciate moments for what they were
  • Read the road and find bumps and valleys where rubber left a mark
  • Figure out which way is west or east looking at the ground
  • Wake up and listen to your heart what you feel like doing today
  • Say goodbye

This chapter has been right for me and I am ready to grow roots.

I have been living a long time in alignment but once I have realized that I have become unaligned and my need right now is community, roots, and a partner I am making changes to make that happen.
